How I Transformed A Moody Powder Room On A Budget

I’m so excited about this powder room makeover!

This was a budget-friendly project and today I’m sharing before and afters, details and links to everything.

Here’s a look at the before.

When we first moved into this house, we replaced all of the floors and had to replace this old toilet. I also had the contractor install a new vanity just because I’m not a huge fan of pedestal sinks!

However, for the past year we’ve been living with this bathroom looking very boring and the only light was one lowly little lightbulb hanging from the wall…it needed some love!

That Paint Color

I wanted this room to be a MOOD so I chose the most beautiful, deep brown called Sealskin by Sherwin Williams.

Although it was a bold choice for such a small space (with no window!) I couldn’t be happier and I think it instantly elevated this powder room.

Those Wall Sconces

Lighting can make or break a room, and my powder room was no exception.

My goal for this space was “moody and a bit boujee” and these sconces took care of the boujee part.

I love the high-end look and they are super budget-friendly.

Gold Accents

I wanted the fixtures and accents to pop against the dark brown walls so I decided to go with gold.

I painted the existing outlet covers with my favorite gold spray paint and added this towel ring.

Side note: I found out the towel ring is meant for tile, but I stuck that sucker on these painted walls anyway. I didn’t have time to get another one and figured I would handle that problem later on if it happened…ha!

I found this faucet on Amazon (my dad refuses to install anything but Delta faucets in houses) and I love it!

The Mirror

The mirror is often the focal point of any powder room, and I wanted something that would not only reflect but also elevate the room’s aesthetic.

I love the organic shape of this mirror and the touch of elegance it adds to this half bath.

The Art

I love making spaces unique to my client’s style or in this case, my style.

So I decided to add an original painting to the back wall of this bathroom.

This painting took longer than most, but I’m so happy with the way it turned out and I love the movement it brings to the space!

I also decided to add molding squares under the chail rail molding. I’ve always loved the way they add dimension and character.

What do you think? Quite the transformation for not a lot of money, right?!
