How To Decorate A Laundry Room

Laundry rooms are often overlooked when it comes to home decor, but with a little creativity we’re able to transform these rooms from dull to dreamy.

I don’t know about you, but I spend a lot of time in my laundry room and bringing in a few intentional decor pieces just makes me happy!

Let’s dive into some tips on how to decorate and breathe a little life into your laundry room.

1. Laundry Baskets

Laundry baskets are essential for keeping your dirty clothes organized, but they can also add a decorative touch to your laundry room.

Instead of using plain plastic bins, consider woven baskets or stylish canvas bags. These options not only look great but also add texture and warmth to the room.

2. Creative Storage Solutions

Maximize your space with creative storage solutions. Install shelves or cabinets above your washer and dryer to store detergent, fabric softener, and other laundry essentials.

Use clear jars or containers to store smaller items like clothespins or laundry supplies.

Wall-mounted organizers or pegboards can also be great for hanging cleaning supplies or ironing accessories.

3. Pretty Hangers

This may be my favorite way to elevate a laundry room…upgrading your hangers.

Opt for wooden or velvet hangers instead of plain plastic ones.

Not only do they look nicer, but they also help prevent clothes from slipping off.

You can even coordinate the hanger colors with your laundry room decor for a cohesive look.

4. Add Some Greenery

Bring a bit of the outdoors inside by adding plants or greenery to your laundry room.

Choose low-maintenance plants like pothos, spider plants, or succulents that thrive in indoor environments.

If you’re like me and don’t have natural light in your laundry room, try faux stems instead!  Here’s a list of a few of my favorite faux florals.

5. Add A Rug

A rug has the ability to tie an entire room together!

Opt for machine-washable rugs in durable materials like cotton or jute for easy maintenance.

Choose rugs with fun patterns or colors to add personality to the room or go for something neutral to achieve a more peaceful look.

6. Functional Lighting

I believe good lighting is essential in a laundry room…who wants to attempt to remove stains in a dimly lit room?

Install bright overhead lighting or task lighting above your work area to be sure you have plenty of bright light.

7. Folding Station

If space allows, consider adding a countertop or folding station to your laundry room.

This provides a dedicated area for folding clothes or sorting laundry, making the task a little more enjoyable.

With these tips, you can turn your laundry room into a functional and stylish space that you’ll actually enjoy spending time in! From decorative storage solutions to plants and lighting, there are endless ways to personalize your laundry room and make it a reflection of your personal style.

Happy decorating!
