A Modern Organic Bedroom Makeover

Our bedroom has always been a catch-all.

For whatever reason, it’s always been the one room in our house where I toss random things and half of the space usually resembles a storage room instead of a master bedroom.

I was on a mission to change that!

I wanted to create a modern, organic space that felt calming and peaceful and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

First, let’s take a quick look at what this bedroom looked like when we bought this house.

Before we moved in, we removed the textured ceilings, replaced all of the flooring and painted the entire house white.

The Wall

I had been thinking of this makeover for a few weeks, and I knew I wanted to create some kind of movement or texture on the walls.

I decided to use Venetian Glaze from Romabio and I am totally obsessed with this product!

It was super easy to apply and I love that I was able to choose any Benjamin Moore color. I chose the color Pashmina…it’s a true gray with gorgeous warm undertones.

The Bed

I’ve had so many requests for a link to this bed and unfortunately I can’t link it.

This is the bed my parents bought for me when I moved to Nashville to go to college…can you believe that!?

It used to be a pretty maple color and I painted it black a couple of years ago. I considered stripping the paint and staining it, but decided to save myself hours of work and just roll with the black for now.

The Nightstands

I knew I wanted dark wood nightstands but the ones I really loved were $2700. Just a *little* out of budget for me.

I found these unfinished dressers on Walmart and loved the shape of them.

It took a little less than 2 hours to put them both together and after a little sand and stain, I think they look amazing…especially for the price!

I put on a coat of wood conditioner, one coat of Dark Walnut stain and then finally a coat of Espresso gel stain.

I even stained the wooden knobs that came with the dressers and used them for the hardware!

I’ll list the decor I chose below. A few things I bought for the space, but most of them I already had!#bedroom-links

Light Fixture

Rug

Bedding Color: Oatmeal

Lamp Shades (I found the lamps on Marketplace years ago for $20)

Faux Snowball Stems

Books

Faux Citrus Tree

Curtains Color: Dutch Cocoa

I’m really happy with the way this modern organic bedroom turned out. It’s so nice to have a minimalist, peaceful retreat. Let me know if you have any questions!
